Programmes should be designed so that skills, techniques and physical abilities are aquired by the athlete almost "by default" as a result of enjoyable activity rather than being the overbearing focus of the activity.
The information I would need ragarding the 9 year old athletes would be: * What physical activities is he/she currently undertaking? * What sports activities/facilities are available to the athlete? * Who are his / her role models & Sports Heros?
As you can probably tell by the questions I ask the focus would be on a wholistic approach to involvement / inclusion in enjoyable activities rather than a specialised programme targeted at the older more developed athlete (perhaps from the age of 14+).
